Saturday's showpiece event is billed as a David v Goliath encounter, with Stoke taking on the mega-rich men from Manchester. Shawcross is aware of the depth of talent available to Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, but insists there is no fear factor for Stoke ahead of what is their first FA Cup final.

"Whether it's an FA Cup final or a normal day, they are a good side," Shawcross told Sky Sports News. "They have improved over the past few years and have spent millions on their players.

"Even if Man City perform to their best we can equal them, but it is going to be a difficult task. We are underdogs.

"City are a very good team but hopefully if we do what we are best at we can come away with something."

Shawcross will lead the team out at Wembley but the defender has insisted he will not get carried away by the occasion.

He said: "You always dream of getting to the FA Cup final, but to captain your team at such a young age is a great achievement for myself and I am very proud but once you get on the field we have got to go out there and perform well."
