Hajj ki Fazilat
Excellence of Hajj
The Holy Quran states in Surah Baqarah, verse 196:
“Fulfil Hajj and ‘Umrah for Allah azwajal”
(Kanz-ul-Iman [Translation of Quran]) (Part 2, Al-Baqarah: 8)
1. The beloved and blessed Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated, ‘The one who performs Hajj avoiding indecent talks and sinful acts will return (from Hajj) as free from all sins as he was on the day his mother gave birth to him.’ (Bukhari Sharif)
2. The Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated, ‘All sins committed in between (the performance of) one ‘Umrah and the other are expiated, and the reward of Hajj Mabrur is nothing but Paradise.’ (Ibn Majah)
3. Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud RadiAllahu Ta’ala ‘Anhu reports that the Holy Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated, ‘Hajj and ‘Umrah remove poverty and sins as (the blacksmith’s) furnace removes all impurities from iron, gold and silver. The reward for Hajj Mabrur is Paradise.’ (Tirmizi, Ibn Majah, Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Hibban)
4. Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas RadiAllahu Ta’ala ‘Anhu reports that the Noble Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated, ‘Performing ‘Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj with me.’ (Abu Dawud)
5. Sayyiduna Abu Musa RadiAllahu Ta’ala ‘Anhu reports that the Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated, ‘The Haji will intercede for his 400 family members and will be freed from sins as he was on the day he was born.’ (Bazzar)
6. Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas RadiAllahu Ta’ala ‘Anhu - reports that the last Prophet of Allah Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated, ‘He who goes on foot to perform Hajj from Makkah and then returns to Makkah (on foot), 700 virtues equal to the virtues of Haram will be written for him for his each step.’ When he Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam was asked about the worth of the virtues of Haram, he Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam replied, ‘Every virtue is equivalent to a hundred thousand virtues.’ Alhamdu Lillah, As per computation, one will be rewarded 70 million virtues for every step. (Bayhaqi)
70 Million Virtues on Every Step
Giving encouragement to go on foot to perform Hajj-rites Sayyidi A’la Hadrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Rehmatullahe Ta’ala ‘Alaihi has stated in his book ‘Anwar-ul-Bisharah’, ‘If possible one should go to Mina, ‘Arafat etc. from Makka-tul-Mukarramah on foot as 70 million virtues will be written for his every step till his return to Makka-tul-Mukarramah. This adds up to approximately seventy eight trillion and forty billion virtues. Without doubt, Allah azwajal has showered innumerable blessings upon this Ummah for the sake of His beloved Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam
Sag-e-Madinah (the author) states that Sayyidi Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Rehmatullahe Ta’ala ‘Alaihi has made this estimation on the basis of the distance of the old longer route. Since tunnels have now been constructed in the mountains leading from Makka-tul-Mukarramah to Mina, shortening the route and facilitating the travel for pedestrians, the number of virtues will also reduce accordingly
7. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah RadiAllahu Ta’ala ‘Anhu reports that the Holy Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated, ‘Haji is forgiven and the one for whom Haji asks forgiveness is also forgiven.’ (Bazzar, Tabarani)
8. Sayyidatuna ‘Aishah Siddiqah RadiAllahu Ta’ala ‘Anha reports that the Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated, ‘There will be no accountability for the one who departs for Hajj or ‘Umrah and dies on the way. He will be ordered to enter Paradise.’ (Tabarani)
9. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah RadiAllahu Ta’ala ‘Anhu reports that the beloved and blessed Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has stated, ‘He who departed with the intention of performing Hajj and died on the way, the reward of Hajj will be written perpetually for him until the Day of Judgement. He who departed to perform ‘Umrah and died on the way, the reward of ‘Umrah will be written continually for him until the Day of Judgement.’ (Bayhaqi)
Risk of Death on Kufr (Disbelief)
10. The Noble Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam has warned, ‘The person who has the means of performing Hajj and who has no apparent obstacles nor an oppressive ruler nor any disease that prevents him, even then, he dies without performing Hajj, he may die as a Jew or as a Christian.’ (Darimi)
