Calzaghe & Owen lead tributes to Speed
Tributes have flooded in on after the death of Wales manager Gary Speed at the age of 42.
Manchester United striker Michael Owen said: "Just cannot believe the news regarding Gary Speed. We waved at each other a couple of days ago dropping our kids off at school. I'm numb."
Robbie Savage, who played alongside Speed for Wales: "The world has lost a great man in Gary Speed I'm devastated spoke to him yesterday morning why ! Why. Why !! I'll miss him so much x."
Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish, whose side's game with Swansea went ahead on Sunday after a minute's silence in Speed's memory: "My blood ran cold when I heard the news. It's absolutely horrific. Gary was doing fantastic with the Welsh team.
"There's a few lads in the dressing room [who knew him]: James Collins, a Wales international, Shay Given who was very close to Gary, and Jermaine Jenas, who played with him for a while at Newcastle. These boys are very upset. Our thoughts go out to his family.
"We would have fully understood if Swansea wanted to call it [the match] off, we would have backed that."
Former world champion boxer Joe Calzaghe, Speed's countryman: "Gutted to hear Gary Speed has died. Great player and a great guy."
