Inquest hears Speed's wife found body
The inquest into Gary Speed's death was adjourned after six minutes, during which time it was confirmed his wife found his body.
Speed died at the age of 42 on Sunday, with police revealing at the time that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The inquest into Speed's death began at Warrington Coroner's Court on Tuesday at 3pm, but was adjourned six minutes later after a coroner confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The court heard that Speed's wife Louise found the body in the garage of their home in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Detective Inspector Peter Lawless, of Cheshire Police, told the court there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances.
A post mortem examination found Speed's death was caused by hanging.
Cheshire coroner Nicholas Rheinberg said: "I adjourn this inquest until January 30, 2012. The inquest will be heard in Warrington and will commence at 2pm."
There was a huge media presence but members of Speed's family did not attend. The coroner asked the media to "respect the privacy" of Speed's family.
