AC Milan have been given permission to speak to wantaway Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez.

30196 - AC Milan set for Tevez talks

Tevez has been deemed surplus to requirements by City since his failure to take the field against Bayern Munich in the Champions League - something which hit the forward hard in the pocket.

A host of clubs have expressed interest in the forward, including Corinthians and Juventus, but Milan have been in the frame since the loss of Antonio Cassano to a heart condition that seems set to sideline the Italian for the season.

Milan players have spoken in glowing terms of Tevez and the club's hierarchy have broken cover to confirm they have been given the green light to talk to the Argentina international.

"Tevez is a City player," Milan's vice-president Adriano Galliani told Gazzetta dello Sport. "The English club has authorised us to speak to his agent but we haven't spoken directly to City yet.

"We don't know what City want. I prefer not to speak too much about Tevez, otherwise his price will go up and this is not good."
