Wolves fail with Milijas appeal
Wolves midfielder Nenad Milijas has lost his appeal against the red card he received during Tuesday's game at Arsenal and will have to serve a three-game ban with immediate effect.
Serbia international Milijas had been hopeful of overturning the dismissal by referee Stuart Attwell for a challenge on Gunners midfielder Mikel Arteta during the second half of the 1-1 draw.
However, a Football Association disciplinary committee has dismissed his appeal and his ban will begin with Saturday's Premier League bottom-four clash at Bolton.
Milijas will also be ruled out for the home league game with Chelsea on January 2 and the FA Cup third-round tie with Birmingham at St Andrew's five days later.
Wolves midfielder Stephen Hunt had earlier suggested that the Arsenal players had done their bit to influence the referee's decision and said they could learn from that behaviour.
"Players are clever," Hunt told the Daily Mirror. "The reactions sometimes do not help the referee.
"Everyone does it now. We should be maybe better at it than any other team. Every team does it, so we don't do it and get punished. Maybe we should start doing it.
"Generally I think the Milijas red card was harsh. It was more with one leg, then the other popped up the middle. Maybe even Alex Song's tackle on me could have been a red, so it is one of those things."
Hunt stressed that he felt Attwell was in a difficult situation when he made the decision.
"I like Stuart as a person," he said. "He is always respectful on the pitch, is always talking and is learning the game as well.
"Unfortunately with so many cameras around, you cannot get away with much. He has had good decisions. It was a difficult game to referee, there was a lot going on.
"He made a mistake on the red card, but it did not really change the game as we were defending at the time anyway. Hopefully it is going to be rescinded, and on the day we have not been punished from it, so we move on."
