Harry Redknapp reveals Ba admiration
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he should have signed Newcastle striker Demba Ba when he was available on a free transfer in the summer.
Ba had a spell at West Ham last season and, after the club were relegated, he moved to the Magpies for no fee. He has been a sensation since arriving on Tyneside, scoring 15 goals in 17 Premier League starts this season.
Last week it emerged that Ba may have a release clause in his contract that allows him to speak to other clubs if a certain fee is hit. Redknapp hinted that the figure could be below £7 million, but has now pleaded ignorance over the exact amount.
"I keep hearing conflicting stories about how much the buy-out clause is, one person says one figure, another says he can be bought out for X amount. The only ones who know are Newcastle and Demba Ba," Redknapp said.
"He's done very well, he's a good player. Looking back, everyone should have taken him when he left West Ham, shouldn't they? We're all wise after the event, as usual."
Redknapp, who said last year he would not be a major player in the January window, has also expressed an interest in Marseille hitman Loic Remy.
