Javier Hernandez has admitted he will have to continue to work on his game to ensure he does not disappear from the scene at Manchester United.

United signed Mexico international Hernandez prior to the 2010 World Cup and it proved an astute move as he produced a sizzling first season in England - scoring 20 goals in all competitions.

Hernandez has not made the same impact this season, although he has been restricted by injuries since the summer. With Danny Welbeck emerging as a well-suited partner for Wayne Rooney, Hernandez is aware of the challenges ahead.

And he is determined not to fail through lack of effort. "There are different circumstances because I have had more injuries this season than last year, but I am still enjoying it," Hernandez told MUTV. "I am still learning and working hard, trying to improve day by day.

"I think each year it is going to be more difficult. In the first season, not only the defenders but also the coaches didn't know me. I think now, and in the third and fourth seasons, they are going to know me even more.

"But good players like Wayne (Rooney), (Robin) Van Persie and (Didier) Drogba have been here five, six years or more and still play at the same high level. I need to keep working to do the same."
