Blackburn boss Steve Kean has moved to crush rumours that defender Chris Samba refused to play against Fulham because he is agitating for a move away from the club.

Samba was not part of the squad as Blackburn climbed out of the relegation zone with a much-needed 3-1 victory over Fulham on Saturday. He was the subject of a bid from QPR earlier in the week, which was rejected, and widespread reports suggested he was trying to find a way out of Ewood Park.

"That's not true," Kean told Sky Sports when asked if Samba refused to play because he wants to leave. "Chris trained very well all week. He trained exceptionally well on Thursday when we had a small practice match and he was fine in that.

"He texted the doctor on Friday morning to say that he was feeling unwell, and we will be making sure that he gets to hospital so that we can look after him. We hope the virus that he has clears up very quick and he's back in on Monday, ready to prepare for Everton. "

Samba, who joined Blackburn in 2007 from Hertha BSC, has also been linked with a move to Tottenham in January.
