Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki has fired her coach Ricardo Sanchez after only two months.

33392 - Wozniacki sacks Sanchez after two months

Wozniacki brought the Spaniard on board at the end of last season as she attempted to consolidate her top ranking with her maiden grand slam title.

But after losing to defending champion Kim Clijsters in the Australian Open quarter-finals, Wozniacki was replaced as world No. 1 by new champion Victoria Azarenka.

Woznaicki's father Piotr told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet that his daughter had called time on the relationship. Piotr, who was his daughter's sole coach before Sanchez's arrival, will continue his role after claiming Wozniacki failed to garner any "new impulses" from Sanchez.

Sanchez told the newspaper that he found it "impossible" to share coaching responsibilities with Piotr Wozniacki, claiming: "Caroline only got confused." He added: "Piotr has his system, I have mine."
