Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas joined Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson in expressing frustration at the match officials after the Blues let a three-goal lead slip on Sunday.

Villas-Boas was helpless to prevent United's comeback as they powered back from 3-0 down to earn a point at Stamford Bridge. However, the Red Devils' recovery was aided by two second-half penalties, both of which arrived from incidents in which it could be argued that the United players involved went looking for the decision.

Having turned down two United appeals in the first half, referee Howard Webb finally pointed to the spot when Patrice Evra lured a foul from Daniel Sturridge. Rooney completed the honours and then repeated the feat when Danny Welbeck left his leg dangling to invite contact from Branislav Ivanovic.

Villas-Boas was unhappy with the awarding of the second penalty, and he hinted that Webb may have felt under pressure after turning down earlier appeals, one of which visibly angered Ferguson.

"Of course it's not easy to take," Villas-Boas said of United's comeback. "It's a massive recovery for United. We had it in our hands and let it slip.

"There were some strange decisions today though. These things just keep happening. The first one is a penalty and I agree with it. The second is very unlucky.

"I'm not sure if Howard is trying to compensate for something."
