ISLAMABAD: The ITF Futures Tennis Championship has begun in Islamabad and players from 15 countries including Pakistan are participating in the event.
Whereas foreign players are refusing to participate in various games including cricket in Pakistan then at the same time many European countries including England, Germany, Russia, Ukraine and Romania besides Asian countries are participating in the first league of the ITF Futures Tennis Championship.
The Pakistan Tennis Federation has termed it a good omen.
Seven Pakistani players are taking part in the main round of the event.
National tennis champion Aqeel Khan defeated his Thai rival 4-6, 6-4 in the first match of the main round.
The second league of the championship will be played from October 19 in Islamabad while the third league will be held in Lahore from October 25.
A total prize amount of $10,000 has been allocated for each league.
