Securing the championship has become nothing more than a formality for Celtic over recent weeks owing to Rangers' financial problems which sent them into administration, and they could have sealed the crown with a win on Sunday.

Rangers were not willing to roll over, though, money worries or not.

Sone Aluko's solo goal put them on their way, with Andy Little and Wallace wrapping things up after Celtic had lost Cha Du-ri and Victor Wanyama to red cards.

There were also reports that manager Neil Lennon had been dismissed to the stands, and his team only responded late on through a Scott Brown penalty and Thomas Rogne after Carlos Bocanegra had been sent off.

"I'm delighted," Wallace told Sky Sports 1. "I'd had a chance before my goal so I was glad to score and make up for the error and also come out on top.

"It's massive (to stop Celtic). We knew what to expect and that the atmosphere would be electric. We went out and gave a big effort so thanks to the fans."

Man of the match Lee McCulloch, one of Rangers' elder statesmen, was keen to dedicate the win to the fans who have watched on in horror as the club's finances have unravelled around them.

"We'd been saying in the lead-up that we needed to give the fans something back," he said. "You could see the passion from them today. The manager touched on the need to be professional before the game. We were deserving winners. The most important thing now is the future of the club."

Manager Ally McCoist was simply relieved to have won the game.

He said: "I was delighted with the result and the manner of the performance. It was a bizarre match but I felt we were the better team. I didn't need a team talk. I just wanted to win the game and we did that."

With the future of the club still up in the air amid talks of a potential takeover, McCoist had a simple message to add, saying: "We just need stability, everyone is aware of that."
