PARIS: The International Hockey Federation (IHF) has released the list of the best players of the year 2008 but no Pakistani has been included in the list.

As per the list released by the IHF, the nominations for the best players of the year 2008 include three players from Germany, two each from Australia and Holland, and one player from Spain.

The deteriorated position of Pakistan hockey can easily be determined by the fact that no Pakistani player has been included in this list.

According to the IHF, all athletes who participated in the Olympics 2008, can vote their favourite player after which the IHF will short list the players.

The player securing the most number of votes will be given the award for the best player of the year in the meeting of the IHF congress, to be held in Los Angeles in November this year.
