KARACHI: Pakistan wrestlers Salamat Ali and Haider Ali won silver medals in the Third Commonwealth Youth Games, currently being held in Pune, India.
As per details, Salamat Ali performed splendidly in the 42kg event to manage a silver medal while Haider Ali achieved the same distinction of winning silver in the 46kg category.
Athlete Muhammad Asif Javed has also qualified for the semifinals in the 100 metres as per last reports received.
In table tennis, Pakistan’s Ayesha Khan also qualified for the main round.
Salman Virk had already qualified after winning his both opening matches against Sri Lankan and Jamaican players on Monday. However, he lost his last match of the qualifying round against the English player on Tuesday.
In the Games, Pakistan have fielded players in five disciplines including athletics, swimming, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.
