LAHORE: New president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation Qasim Zia said that his first target is to achieve gold medal in the Asian Games 2010.
In his first address to a press conference here at the National Hockey Stadium after being appointed the president of the hockey federation, Qasim Zia said that the issues would be resolved to bring back Pakistan’s lost glory in hockey after finding the causes of debacle.
He said that this game would be promoted at the level of schools and colleges to make a brilliant future in hockey.
Qasim Zia said that earlier the hockey players were playing for Pakistan while today the players lack the spirit.
He said that Pakistan has won so many medals in hockey which perhaps no other country has obtained but this is our golden past.
The new PHF president said that the number of hockey series with other countries would be increased and foreign teams would be invited to tour Pakistan and if needed, services of a foreign coach may be acquired.
He said that efforts would also be made for the improvement in women’s hockey team besides men’s team.
