LAHORE: Former coach of Pakistan hockey team and director academies Olympian Naveed Alam expressing concern over decision of abolishing the academies by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), said that the national game would be more deteriorated due to this decision.
Talking with Geo News, Naveed Alam said that the crisis in Pakistan hockey can only be averted by running the academies under proper planning but this is unfortunate that the Federation has suddenly abolished the project of academies.
He said that he could not give attention on the Lahore academy for seven months as he was with the national team as its coach. Now he was focusing all his attention towards the academy but the Federation decided to abolish the academies.
Naveed Alam said that dozens of players were going through training along with education and they would be much discouraged due to this decision and no talent would emerge on the scene.
