Arsenal move not going to happen - Vorm
Michel Vorm has ruled out the possibility of a summer move to Arsenal, insisting he has no interest in playing second fiddle to Wojciech Szczesny.
Vorm has been one of the signings of the season for Swansea, catching the eye of several Premier League managers with a string of impressive displays between the posts. Captured for £1.5 million from Utrecht, he is now valued closer to the £5 million mark.
Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen to add Vorm to his Arsenal squad in order to provide genuine competition to Szczesny. However, Vorm is well aware that Szczesny too has enjoyed an excellent campaign and is not interested in becoming his No. 2.
"I like it here very, very much," Vorm is quoted as saying by This is South Wales. "I know I am No. 1 here and we play the best football in the league. I train with the best manager in the league so it would be hard for me to leave the club.
"There is no point me being a No. 2. I'm 29 in October and my best years are just starting. After 37 games in the Premier League I feel I have proved my worth so why should I go and sit on the bench somewhere?
"That's not for me. Maybe last season it would have been different but things are different now. If I am going to go somewhere I have to be No. 1."
Vorm's switch to Swansea came late in last summer's transfer window, and he admits the door is ajar to another move. However, the Dutchman hinted that it would take a big club with guaranteed first-team football to loosen his ties with Swansea.
"No club has come in for me. You never know what's going to happen in football because last summer I left just before the transfer window closed," Vorm said.
"But there are not many better places I could go, especially with the way we play football. It suits me very well and I think we play the best football in the Premier League."
