LAHORE: Chief minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has decided an annual grant of Rs50 million for the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) in the provincial budget. He has also promised to give the hockey stadiums of Lahore and Faisalabad on lease to the PHF.
President PHF Qasim Zia and secretary Asif Bajwa met with chief minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif at the Chief Minister House and briefed him about the issues being faced by the national game.
Talking with media after the meeting, Qasim Zia told that the PHF had presented two demands in the meeting with the chief minister. These were the monetary help to the federation and the handing over of the hockey stadiums of Lahore and Faisalabad to the PHF.
The chief minister announced the Rs50 million grant for the PHF in the provincial budget and also ordered to release immediately a fund of Rs30 million to the federation in the current financial year.
Qasim Zia further said that the chief minister asked the concerned department for a detailed report on the hockey stadiums of Lahore and Faisalabad and promised that both these stadiums would soon be handed over to the federation on the lease.
