Fernando Torres has revealed that a conversation with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich convinced him that his future lies with the Blues.

Torres gave an interview after the Champions League final - which Chelsea won on penalties - expressing frustration with life at Stamford Bridge, leading to speculation he could leave the club this summer.

But the Spaniard's chances of first-team football next season have been helped by the departure of striking rival Didier Drogba, and he has put a more diplomatic spin on the comments made in that controversial interview.

His decision to smooth over relations with the club came following discussions with Abramovich, who helped bankroll Torres' £50 million move from Liverpool to Chelsea in January 2011.

"I had a conversation with the owner of Chelsea and he trusts me," Torres said. "His confidence is total and that is what I needed to keep fighting and continue to be essential for the team."
