Mark Webber became the sixth different winner from six different races in 2012 when he won in Monaco. While Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes have all won a race, Pastor Maldonado also won for Williams in Barcelona to prove that victories are possible for the majority of the field. Mallya said that he was hoping Force India could get on top of the Pirelli tyres to put itself in a position to challenge for the podium in the near future.

"The unpredictability of Formula One continues with the sixth different winner of the season in Monaco," Mallya said. "I believe this unpredictability has crept in largely because of the tyres and it's making for some entertaining races. That's why we're working especially hard to understand the tyres better to make sure we get the best out of them. If we can find the sweet spot I hope we can enjoy our own special results in the races to come."

Mallya added that he hoped the team would score points in Canada this weekend having failed to do so when Paul di Resta was fighting for fourth place at one stage last year.

"We've had good and bad times in Montreal in recent years. We were competitive there in 2010, but last year I believe we threw away some certain points. Hopefully we'll redeem ourselves this year."
