Felipe Massa is targeting race victories later in the season as both he and his car improves.

14936 - Massa targets victories in 2012

A dismal start to the season showed signs of revival in Monaco when Massa matched his team-mate Fernando Alonso for much of the weekend and eventually finished the race in sixth place - just six seconds behind the winner. With the F2012 having improved markedly since the start of the season, Massa said having a better car was helping him develop his own performances.

"I feel much better in the car," Massa said. "I think you know improving helps a lot the way of driving, especially for my driving style. I'm really looking forward to carrying on like that, improving, getting stronger race by race, and fighting for many good points and even looking for victory and podiums. This is really the target, the direction and I feel much stronger in the car now compared to the beginning of the season."

Massa also acknowledged that improved performances would help him secure his future, even though he admitted it may not be with Ferrari beyond the end of this season.

"I'm here, always want to race, to fight for victory and that's what I did for many years, and I'm looking forward to getting back to fighting for victories and the championship. I trust myself, as I said, it's important to… the season didn't start as I expected, but I think things are getting better so it's important to carry on like this and I think if we do, it will be much easier and we will find a good direction for the future - to stay in Ferrari or find a good direction in which to race."
