    "Mama Is a Sunrise"

When she comes slip-footing through the door,
    she kindles us
    like lump coal lighted,
    and we wake up glowing.
She puts a spark even in Papa's eyes
and turns out all our darkness.
When she comes sweet-talking in the room,
    she warms us
    like grits and gravy,
    and we rise up shining.
Even at nighttime Mama is a sunrise
    that promises tomorrow and tomorrow.

    Sunrise

I watched the dawn of the day
Waiting for the world to come out and play

The sunshine seeped over the unawakened earth
Soon to be a new re-birth

The flowers were still until the first breeze
They swayed gently with such ease

Birds flew high above my gaze
The shadows disappeared there was no haze

I watched the dawn of the day
Thy beauty took thy breath away.

    Seven Tiles

    Every morning, I'd lay about
    the empty shore,
Waiting for the sun to rise.

    A familiar sight, a beautiful
delight is that sun, I say!

Every morning as the sun rises,
    I see a beauty of a lifetime.
Every evening as the sun sets,
I lose sight of the delicate thing.

Now here I lie, once again,
    On the empty shore alone...
Waiting for the sun to rise.

    SUNRISE

    The grey begins to fade,
As colour creeps from leaf to limb.
The light is slowly seeping up,
From beneath the earth's curved rim.

    The sky blue strengthens slowly,
Glazed with hues of orange and red.
    Slowly as the earth revolves,
The sun lifts up it's head.

    Colours shimmer in the light
    And shapes begin to unveil.
    The trees and flowers separate,
With the dawn light rosy and pale.

The sun climbs higher in the sky.
    It's light shimmering and warm.
All things now are clearly seen.
A new day has been born

    You can
    die for it--
    an idea,
    or the world. People

    have done so,
    brilliantly,
    letting
    their small bodies be bound

    to the stake,
    creating
    an unforgettable
    fury of light. But

    this morning,
    climbing the familiar hills
    in the familiar
    fabric of dawn, I thought

    of China,
    and India
    and Europe, and I thought
    how the sun

    blazes
    for everyone just
    so joyfully
    as it rises

    under the lashes
of my own eyes, and I thought
    I am so many!
    What is my name?

    What is the name
of the deep breath I would take
    over and over
for all of us? Call it

    whatever you want, it is
    happiness, it is another one
    of the ways to enter
    fire.

    SUNRISE

Watching the sun rise over the bay,
Makes me thank God for another beautiful day!

The morning's so peaceful, so calm, so serene,
Like a painting you've seen in an art magazine!

We all have our problems, our burdens to bear,
But by observing God's beauty, sometimes answers become clear!

He's exploring our character and morals to see who's the best,
For to join Him in heaven, we must pass His test!

    The Prince

    Sunrise
    by Rachel Branch

I sit and stare at the sunrise every morning.
And inside I cry for I can see it for all its wondrous beauty.
And pity the people to concerned with complaining and disagreeing
to look up and almost swear you can see
    God's marvelous face smiling back.

You can be happy or you can be depressed
but even the slightest glance at the morning sky
can fill you with unspeakable joy,
    that only God can give.
So share God's gift of love
with every one you meet and they will share it with others.

    SUN RISE

    The grey began to fade,
As the colours filled the sky,
    The chill began to warm,
As the sun began to rise.

    A lost girl found direction,
As the eastern orb rose high,
The dark sky turned to blue,
Like the colour of his eyes.

    Dark turned to light,
    Grey turned to blue,
    Lost became found,
    That's when I met you.

    Poem – the Sunrise

    Did you see the sunrise,
    so colourful, vibrant light shimmering?
    Did you sight the horizon,
the wonder, waiting there for you to seek?
the clouds blankets over the sun,
    as it stretches and wakes,
a pale orange glow is shone lightly,
pink and blues join together in harmony.
    When dawn was breaking,
that day was the start of its destiny.
the miracles, wonders that will follow.
    But I stood there, alone.
