Pakistan defeated South Africa 5-4 in the London Olympics men's hockey event on Sunday.


Haseem Khan scored two goals while Waseem Ahmed, Shafqat Rasool and Sohail Abbas scored one goal each.

In the first half both teams scored three goals each. Pakistan were in danger of defeat in the second half but Sohail Abbas scored fourth goal to equalizing the score.

However, Pakistan emerged victorious when Waseem Ahmed scored fifth goal in the last moments of the match.

Pakistan ended in 1-1 draw with Spain in the inaugural match, won the second match against Argentina 2-0 and lost third match against Great Britain 4-1.

Pakistan will play against Australia on August 7.
