Kiwis 262-6 against Aussies on 1st day in 2nd Test
ADELAIDE: New Zealand made 262 runs for six wickets against Australia on the first day of the second Test here on Friday.
Winning the toss, New Zealand opted batting as Aaron Redmond and Jamie How opened the innings.
They lost their first wicket at 46 when How was dismissed for 16 but Redmond and Jesse Ryder took the score to 101-1 by lunch.
However, two wickets fell within half an hour of the interval as Ryder (13) and Redmond got out. Redmond top-scored with 83 and later Peter Fulton made 29.
When play ended on the first day, New Zealand were 262-6 with wicketkeeper-batsman Brendon McCullum (30) and captain Daniel Vettori (2) were at the crease.
For Australia, Nathan Hauritz claimed two wickets while Brett Lee, Stuart Clark, Mitchell Johnson and Andrew Symonds took one wicket each.
