Financial scam unearthed in PCB
The PCB media cell has allegedly embezzled million of rupees in the name of media refreshment.
ISLAMABAD: Financial scam on withdrawal of millions of rupees in the name of refreshment has been unearthed in the media department of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to sources, the PCB media cell is functioning under General Manager Media (GMM) Nadim Sarwar tasked with providing facilities to journalists. The PCB has earmarked separate funds under this head.
Sources disclosed fake bills amounting to Rs 70,000 are sent by GMM every month in the name of journalists’ refreshment to finance department and over Rs 800,000 have been withdrawn from PCB accounts within a year.
Sources said that former chairman PCB Ejaz Butt had assigned the responsibility of GMM to Nadim Sarwar on the recommendations of top functionary on monthly salary package of Rs 1,50,000. The other perks and privileges including petrol, mobile phone and vehicle facility are also being provided to him.
The journalists’ community has expressed grave concern over plundering of funds in their name and demanded of PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf to hold inquiry into the matter.
