El Shaarawy pens new AC Milan contract
Stephan El Shaarawy has signed a new contract with AC Milan running until June 2018.
El Shaarawy, 20, has been rewarded for his scintillating form this season that has seen him score 19 goals and create four assists in 33 appearances for the Rossoneri.
The Italy international has extended his stay at the San Siro by one year, with his old deal set to expire in the summer of 2017. The Serie A club have released no further details but it is understood that the new terms will see his current €800,000 annual salary increase.
El Shaarawy, who joined Milan in 2011 from Genoa following a co-ownership deal, had been linked with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal this season, however, the new deal has now put paid to those rumours.
The striker was delighted with the contract extension and took to Twitter to reveal the good news.
"Happy for the renewal… Extended my contract until 2018! So proud to wear this shirt," he wrote.
