City teenager jailed for driving death
Meppen-Walter, 18, crashed his Mercedes into a Nissan Micra that was pulling out of a side road in Manchester, while driving at 60mph in a 30mph zone.
The crash claimed the lives of Kulwant Singh, 32, and his 37-year-old sister Ravel Kaur, while her two sons Amjid and Parveen, who are 16 and 17 respectively, were left with serious injuries in hospital. Both have since made full recoveries.
Meppen-Walter appeared at Manchester Crown Court where a judge sentenced him after he admitted to two counts of death by careless driving.
The England Under-17 defender had asked to be dealt with at Manchester Magistrates' Court but he was sent to crown court as the offence was deemed too serious.
