Pakistan 347-4 at stumps Napier Test
NAPIER: Pakistan were 347 for 4 in their second innings and had secured lead by 99 runs with 6 wickets still remaining at close on the fourth day of third cricket Test match against New Zealand here on Monday, Geo news reported.
Pakistan lost two quick wickets as MJ Guptill, in his maiden Test cricket over, caught and bowled out two Pakistani left handed openers in first session of the match.
Also, he succeeded to break 129-run opening stand from Pakistani openers.
Subsequently, two Pakistani middle order batsmen, skipper Muhammad Yousuf and young Faisal Iqbal slowly paced the innings, forming 128 run solid partnership, which ultimately was broken when Iqbal was dismissed on 67.
Imran Farhat and Salman Butt respectively accumulated 61 and 66 runs while young Umer Akmal was unbeaten at crease on quick 49 with Misbah-ul-Haq playing on 3.
Captain Muhammad Yousuf, missed out his test hundred and was forced to go back to dressing room on 89 shortly after the play was resumed following rain and bad light amid third session.
The match was interrupted by rain on twice occasions today meanwhile; Pakistan had succeeded to take lead by 99 runs with 6 wickets in hands and last day to go when the play was finally closed.
