    Virtues of Dhul Qa'dah

    The Holy Quran states:
Indeed the number of months before Allah is twelve - in the Book of Allah - since the day He created the heavens and the earth, of which four are sacred; this the straight religion; so do not wrong yourselves in those months; and constantly fight against the polytheists as they constantly fight against you; and know well that Allah is with the pious. (Section 10, Tauba, V36)

Commenting on the afore-mentioned verse, Sayyiduna Moulana Naeem-ud-Deen Muradabadi Rehmatullah Alaihi writes in ‘Khazain-ul-Irfan’, “(Out of the four sacred months) 3 are consecutive: Zil-Qa’dah, Zil-Hijja and Muharram and one is separate which is Rajab. Even in the era of ignorance, Arabs would consider killing each other Haram in these months. Islam further enhanced the significance and sacredness of these months.” (Khazain-ul-Irfan, P309)

Dhul Qa'dah is the eleventh month of the Islamic Calendar. It is a month amongst the months of Hajj. It is the first among the four sacred months (Ash'hur al Haram).

Literal Meaning : Qa'dah means to rest. The Arabs used to stop fighting when this month set in and stayed home. This is from among the sacred months.

It is in the month of Zil-Qa’dah that prophet Hazrat Ibraaheem Alaihi salam began the reconstruction of the Ka’bah shareef accompanied by his son, Hazrat Isma’eel Alaihi salam. And many among other prophets Alaihi salam have received their nubuwwat (order of prophetic mission) and Scriptures from Allah ta’ala during that month.

    Nafil Roze (Fasts)

    The Reward of 2 Years

Sayyiduna Anas RadiAllahu Anhu narrates that Beloved Rasul Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “The one fasting 3 days (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) in the sacred months (months of urmah) will get the reward of 2 years' worship.” (Majma-’uz-Zawaid, V3, P438, Hadith 5151)

Sacred (Hurmah) months mentioned in the aforementioned Hadis are four i.e. Zul-Qa’dah, Zul-ijjah, Muarram, and Rajab. If you fast in any three days of any month among these four months, Insha Allah Taala you will gain the reward of worship of two years.

It is written in the blessed Hadith that whoever fasts a day of Dhul-Qa`dah. Allah (Glory be to Him) writes for him every moment the reward of an accepted Haj and with every moment that passes the reward of a freed slave. (Rasala Fazail-e-Shahoor)

    Fast of Monday
It has come in a narration of the blessed Hadith that in this month a moment of worship is better than a thousand years of worship. And said that the fast of Monday during this month is better than a thousand years of worship. (Rasala Fazail-e-Shahoor)

    Nafil Namaz

    * When the moon of Zil-Qa’dah is visible, read after the namaz Isha, 2 raka’ats of namaz nafils, with in each raka’at, after the sourah al-Faatihah, 3 times sourah al-Qadr (“Innaa anzalnaahu fii laÿlatil-Qadr”), if you do not know that sourah, then read 11 times sourah al-Ikhlaass (“Qul huwallaahu ahad”) instead. After the salaam, read 11 times Darood shareef, 11 times sourah al-Faatihah and again 11 times Darood-shareef. Then make your du’as (supplications).

    * It is written in the blessed Hadith that whoever performs four Rakats on the first night of Dhul-Qa`dah Al Najeeb and in every rakat recites Surah Ikhlas 23 times after the recitation of Surah Fatihah. Then Allah (Glory be to Him) will make for him four thousand houses made of red ruby. Inside every house there will be a pulpit made of jewels and there will be Hoor sat on each of the pulpits whose forehead will be shining brighter than the sun. (Rasala Fazail-e-Shahoor)

Daily 2 Rakats after Isha namaz - Reward of one Umrah

    * It has come in one narration to perform 2 Rakats every night during the month of Dhul-Qa`dah. In every Rakat after the recitation of Surah Fatihah read Surah Ikhlas 3 times. Then that person recieved every night, the reward of one Umrah Insha Allah Taal'a.

Every Friday 4 Rakat Namaz - Reward of Haj and Umarah

    * During this month whoever performs every Friday after Jumua (Friday) Namaz 4 Rakats with 2 salam. In every Rakat after reciting Surah Fatihah read Surah Ikhlas 21 times. Then Allah Talaa (Glory be to Him) writes for him the reward of Haj and Umarah. (Rasala Fazail-e-Shahoor)
