Relieved Tanvir, Akmal start for home

KARACHI: Relieved to have escaped the Mumbai mayhem unscathed, Pakistani cricketers Sohail Tanvir and Kamran Akmal left for home today after spending tense time in terror-hit metropolis.

Both the cricketers were staying at the Taj Land End hotel when the Mumbai terror attacks took place on Wednesday night and after spending some anxious moments there, both are now returning home via Bahrain.

It was terrifying for everyone what happened in Mumbai. I guess it was a sensible thing to postpone the Champions League," Kamran said on telephone before leaving Mumbai.

Kamran and Akmal were supposed to represent Rajasthan Royals in the December 3-10 Champions Trophy but the Twenty20 extravaganza was put off due to the terror strikes.

"It was the worst thing that I saw or heard in my life. Me and Kami were just waiting to catch the first flight home," he said.

The Pakistani players were, however, safe during their ordeal in Mumbai and Kamran said they had been well looked after like other guests.
