    Ingredients:

4 tsp tea powder / 2 tea bags (i used Lipton tea powder)
    4 cups water
    1/4 cup lemon juice
4 tbsp sugar(adjust according to your taste)
    Ice cubes(as needed)

    Method:

For ice lemon tea,we should make black tea first.I love freshly brewed black tea than the tea bags,so i used my tea maker to make black tea.You can use tea bags or can make black tea by boiling water in a sauce pan.Add tea powder and allow it to boil.Strain the tea powder and collect the black tea.Let it cool for sometime and then add the lime juice.

    tea1 thumb25255B525255D?imgmax800 - Cooking Comp June 2014

Add the sugar and mix well(for effective weight loss, have lemon tea without sugar).Refrigerate the tea and serve chill whenever needed.

    tea2 thumb25255B525255D?imgmax800 - Cooking Comp June 2014

Try to add fresh lemon slices to add flavour for the tea(the tangy flavour will keep your taste buds happy).Add ice cubes and serve chill.

    tea3 thumb25255B425255D?imgmax800 - Cooking Comp June 2014

The strength of tea depends on your taste(if it is very strong dilute it with little cold water) and so does the sugar. Adjust to taste.

Lemon is so blessed with natural healing properties that no part of it should go to waste. Lemons have many widely known uses, adding a refreshing zest to your water, cleaning household items, and adding flavor to numerous dishes.

However, many people only consider using its juice and pulp. If you’re only using the juice and discarding the peel, you may be missing out.

So what are the major advantages of using the whole lemon?

    1. It gives you more vitamins.

Lemon peels contain as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself. To name a few: Vitamin C, Vitamin A, beta carotene, folate, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

    2. It helps in fighting cancer.

Lemon peels are health rejuvenators in eradicating toxic elements in the body. This means that lemon peels help rid the body of carcinogenic elements. Lemon peels consists of components known as salvestrol Q40 and limonene, which are known to fight against cancerous cells in the body. Also, the flavonoids present in the peel are known to be effective when it comes to curbing the division of cancerous cells.

Therefore, consumption of lemon peel is known to be a preventive measure against development of various types of cancers including breast cancer, colon cancer, and skin cancer. A study revealed that consumption of hot tea with lemon peel has proved to be beneficial in preventing the development of cancer cells.

    3. It improves bone health.

Lemon peels have lots of calcium and Vitamin C. Consuming lemon peels will help prevent osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory polyarthritis, and other bone conditions.

    4. It decreases cholesterol levels.

Digesting lemon peels will help lower the LDL cholesterol, or the bad cholesterol through its polyphenol flavonoids. Vitamin C and vitamin P help in clearing the blood vessels, preventing or minimizing the risks of developing the interrelated conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetic heart disease.

    That’s what we’ve been wasting!

Here’s a tip on how to use more lemon peels in your diet:

Freeze whole, organic lemons and keep them in your freezer. Then grate the sprinkles of lemon peel over your meals, in your drinks, and on your soups for a fresh flavor and a bit of the lengthy list of benefits above.

    Falooda Recipe

Homemade falooda recipe 3 - Cooking Comp June 2014

    Prep time
    30 mins

    Cook time
    10 mins

    Total time
    40 mins

    Ingredients
    Basil seeds – 2 teaspoons
    Milk – 1½ cups
    Sugar – 2 tablespoons
    Falooda Sev – handful
    Rose Syrup – 2 tablespoons
    Ice cream – 2 scoops
Pistachios – few, chopped for garnishing
Rose petals – few, for garnishing (optional)
    Instructions
Soak basil seeds in the water for at least 30 minutes. After 30 minutes drain them.
Meanwhile take and sugar in the pan. Let it come to a boil on medium heat. And then lower the heat and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes. Then chill it in the refrigerator.
Make the falooda sev as per package instruction. How I did – take some water in a pan, let it come to a rolling boil. Add falooda sev, let it cook for 4-5 minutes. Drain it and rinse it with cold water immediately to stop further cooking. using kitchen scissors, cut them into approx 1 inch pieces, so it will easier to eat later.
Now everything is ready, soaked basil seeds, chilled milk and sev. Let’s assemble the falooda.
Take two glasses. Add basil seeds to it.
Then on top add cooked falooda sev.
Then add 1 tablespoon of rose syrup in each glass.
Pour the milk in it. Some basil seeds will float on top.
Then add a scoop of ice cream.
Garnish it with chopped pistachios and rose petals.
    Serve immediately.
    Additional Info
Taste – Sweet, cooling with rose flavors

Shelf life – must be served immediately. But you can prepare different elements (like soaking basil seeds, boiling milk, cooking sev) ahead of time. Keep it refrigerated and assemble right before serving.
