Pakistan zindabaad
On asking my daadi, what 1947 was like? She went into a daze, as her eyes welled up ,I could see the intense pain behind the windows of her soul that had seen so much, screams still echoed in her ears, the smell of dead bodies in camps where she and her sisters once volunteered as nurses was still fresh to her sense of smell, my great grand father was a liberal ,educated man who thought well ahead for his time . He encouraged his daughters to step out and help all they could. Rape, massacre , being shifted from their homes like cattle ,to a place which they were not even vaguely familiar with, losing all they had to be independent, to live freely in a land called PAKISTAN....A country which had its golden days I have grown up hearing about, where there was freedom of thought, respect for every individual, controlled corruption, where one knew their neighbors and took time to make an effort and keep a friendly connection. There was constant laughter, no marches for rights, justice and freedom, no puddles of blood and talks of guns ,bombs and terrorists ! Kids walked to school, the only thing that they were afraid of was the laal andhi, heat stroke noose bleeds in summer or the bitter winds that froze their ears in winters. I Want My Pakistan to be what it was .. A country with people who had soul.. Respect for the sacrifices that were made , and dignity not to sell ourselves to the highest or for that matter any bidder...MY HEART clings to hope, that my son will see hear and live in the land I was once so proud of, amongst people not demons . Pakistan there is still hope for you . Hang in there.. PAKISTAN HAPPY BIRTHDAY! PAKISTAN ZINDABAAD!
Love
From a PAKISTANI
