LAHORE, Pakistan — At least seven people were killed on Wednesday in a suicide attack at the office of a governing-party lawmaker in centralPakistan, and at least four people were wounded, police officials said. The motive for the attack in Taunsa, a remote town in the Dera Ghazi Khan district of Punjab Province, remained unclear. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. The lawmaker, Sardar Amjad Farooq Khan Khosa, was in Islamabad, the capital, at the time of the attack.“I don’t know what can be the motive behind the bombing,†Mr. Khosa said by phone, adding that he had not received threats from any militant groups and had no disputes with anyone.Dozens of people were at the office building when the suicide bomber detonated explosives, the police said, for a meeting of junior officials of the party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.“The body parts of the suicide bomber have been recovered,†said Ghulam Mubashir Maken, the district police chief. Mr. Maken said that the attack could have been made in retaliation for the killing in July of Malik Ishaq, a former leader of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, an anti-Shiite militant group. Photo
