PESHAWAR: In the history of the province Pakistan Cricket Board Saturday launched PCB Girls Under-17 Cricket Academy for the first time under the aegis of PCB Women Wing in the premises of Frontier College for Women and initially 20 females cricketers have been short-listed.With the establishment of the first PCB Cricket Academy for female, a most awaited demand of the women cricketers from this part of the world, fulfilled, Pakistan Cricket Board, PCB Women Coordinator in Peshawar Region Raham Bibi said while talking to APP here.
There is lot of talent of female cricketers in Peshawar in particular and other districts in general but now with the establishment of PCB Cricket Academy more talent would come up, says Raham Bibi. "Our most awaited demand has now fulfilled," she added.
She said after holding two days open trials for the girls, specially from various school of Peshawar wherein around 50 girls appeared and out of that 50 girls 30 have been short-listed initially. Raham Bibi disclosed that they have witnessed the performances of the players and from 30, selected 20 players for the PCB Academy.
The selected girls would also represent Peshawar Region in the forthcoming 2nd PCB National Inter-School Girls Cricket Championship to be kicking off from September 23, 2016 at Lahore. She said the trials were conducted under the aegis of two qualified coaches Peshawar Region male Coach Saltanat and female coach Salma Faiz.
She also lauded the quick response of the PCB for establishing a cricket academy for the female cricketers under qualified coach on her request. PCB is also provided all facilities to the players from diet to, daily and travelling allowance during the training period besides we have received all require sports gears from PCB for the academy.
"I also suggested through a letter to PCB Women Wing Chairperson Mrs. Shamsha to have matches of all between other districts so that girl's cricketers could be spotted from other districts as well through these matches," Raham Bibi added.
She said along with the Academy, the players is also preparing for the forthcoming PCB 2nd National Inter-School Championship-2016. She said in the first phase the Regional Academy here would be working till September 9.
After a break in connection with the Eid holidays, the second phase would start from September 18 before the team leave for Lahore to participate in the National School Championship to be starting from September 23, 2016.
The players of the Academy would do their training four-day a week even after, he disclosed. The players short-listed for the Academy comprising Mahnoor Naeem,, Moomna, Mahnoor Ahmad, Hadia Khan, Suhra Shaheen, Mahnoor Aftab, Faryal Aman, Natasha, Bakhtawar, Kashmala Ali, Kalsoom, Hira, Muskan Zaman, Raheela, Razia, Komal, Salma Aziz, Aiman, Gul Rukh and Asmat.
