Assalaam-O-alaikum SDians,

I was given a task to differentiate between Facebook and Forum and also discuss about the +ve and -ve points of using them... I am sure as with everything not everyone would agree with my 'explanation' but I am trying my best to JUSTIFY with my writing and be as honest as possible when presenting my opinion. Mera yeh thread bhii DUAL LANGUAGE main hii hoga, kiyonki sometimes Urdu expressions of words make difference while sometime English does the justice .... Plus it gives us two medium of understanding things which is healthy as well

FACEBOOK vs FORUM

I have been using Forum worlds for more than a decade now, therefore, I will discuss about forum world. Agar yehh kaha jaayay kay merii soch main itnii wusaat, meray kalaam main itni shaistigiii, merii zaban kii inti mithaas, mera yeh takallum, mera yeh shaistapan, mera yeh khushgawar lehjaa, hontoon pay tabassum.... agar bayis-e-forum hay touu yeh ghalat nahin hoga.. main nay forum kii zindagiii say bohat kuch seekha, aur sikhaaya, aur aaj tak bhii jab main apnay comments daita hoon tou yeh soch kar post karta hoon kay iss ko paRhnay waalay kisi bhii maamlay ko samajhnay main aik POSITIVE raayay paida karain...

Both Forum and Facebook helps you link up with people all over the world. Helps develop better perspectives on various issues, learn new things, exchange ideas, and helps one improve their networking skills. It helps provide an effective platform for enhancing your knowledge. It helps motivate to get better at communication and encourages freedom of self-expression. Social media facilitates the development of the technical expertise and practical understanding of technology.

However negative effects using FB are much more horrible specially young minds are moldable and FB can mold the way they think and behave. At tender age innocent mind cannot discern good and bad. FB also has a dark side, as with the story of dark needs light, there is a flipside to FB, some common but disturbing effects that make you realise why FB is bad for them.

The vastness of social media ensures that there is NO CONTROL on the scope of information and such situation can lead to bumping into obscene, harmful or graphic websites that may affect thinking process.

Jabkay FORUM per ADMINS and Moderators kii moujoodgii iss baat kii zaamin hotii hay kay CONTROLLED and AUTHENTICATED information share hoon.

Cyber bullying is another growing trend among FB.

Forums cannot have such trends (some forum might use this to attract people) but most of the forum including SD controls such bullying and limits members using any external link or advertise different sites.

FB can have dangerous and potentially fatal effects. It claims many victims each year. Europe Asia suffer from a large number of teen and other youth commit suicides due to FB. Spending too much time can also affect negativity and often lead to addiction. Addiction can manifest itself as various symptoms and may even effect physical health. FB can effect ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.

Whereby Forum is purely considered as 'making virtual connection', ensuring that your personal information are not shared until otherwise you share them with others. I am using forum world for over a decade now, but I don't consider myself addicted to it, but attached!

I am sure there is much to express, but I am limiting my column here so that we can discuss it together to arrive to a conclusion together.

As with everything, there are positive and negative aspects of usage... A knife used by a Doctor can save a life of a patient while it can kill someone if used by a criminal. We must ensure that we control the usage, and keep a check on the material they use online!
