AN EXPENSIVE NAGIN
Interesting news on Mallika Sherawat’s Hissss: reports say much expertise and expense have gone into the creation of a massive life-like snake, all of seven feet in length with a three-foot wide hood. Special animatronic experts have been flown down from the US to handle the special effects. Four men control the movements of the snake’s eyelids, mouth and body for every shot to ensure perfect synchronization. Unit members swear that many a time they’ve had quite a scare. As one of them tells us, “Though we know it’s not real, the snake made of prosthetic rubber looks so real it’s scary. We have spent a lot of money, Rs. 2 crore, on it. Those guys from the US really know their job. Right from the skin, to the scales and the colour of the eyes, everything is so authentic.” And since Robert Kurtzman, who worked on Hulk, Predator, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, is doing the film’s special effects Hissss could just turn out to be a film to look forward to.
