Are The Sparks Still Flying For Aishwariya and Abhishek After One Year of Marriage?
Abhishek and Aishwariya share much more than initials. We take a look at what makes the A-list listers special together.
The A+Couple
One year on: Still Married!
B’wood’s most high-profile wedding was held at the Bachchan family home of Pratiskha. Mumbai on April 20, 2007. The wedding was a media circus, even if the media was kept firmly out of it. Their not-on-the guest included names such as Shatrughan Sinha, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherji, Hrithik Roshan.
Long Honeymoon
They soon took off for a month-long honeymoon to Europe. They skipped the premiere of their film Guru in Cannes and Ash refused to promote Jodha Akbar. Clearly, they don’t believe in mixing business with pleasure.
Who’s More Committed!
Abhishek has been seen escorting Aishwarya everywhere -- from the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival to the shoot of Pink Panther Returns. He even refused to work with friend Rani to keep wife Ash happy. Clearly, Abhi’s head over heels in love, never mind career/social prospects.
Aishwarya too has firmly placed Abhi’s need first. She was by his side at the funeral of Teji Bachchan, helping Abhi cope with his grandmother’s death. Also, she flew into India specially for Karvachouth, like a good wife. She even turned down Will Smith’s offer and refused to act in a Karan Johar film, not wanting to expose much. Definitely, Ash is determined to be the perfect Bachchan bahu.
Career Graph
One astrologer had predicted Ash’s career would soar after marriage. Abhi’s wouldn’t Unfortunately, both Abhishek’s release after Guru have flopped. His career now rides on Sarkar Raaj (which also stars Ash), Drona and Dostana.
Ash has had a big success in Jodha Akbar. But she seems to have put her career on hold. By the way whole family, plus other stars, will be doing the Unforgettable Tour this summer.
All four Bachchans star in a film together, with Brinda Rai doing a cameo!
Father-in-law Big B
Big B bought land to build a high school for girls and fondly named it Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Girls’ Intermediate College. What a lovely gift to give tour daughter-in-law! Anyway, he always seems to be around beta and bahu.
Mother-in-law Jaya
Jaya dotes on her bahu. She calls her Pari, and Ash we heard, learns to cook Bengali food from mum-in-law. She also cooks her own mum’s recipes for the Bachchans.
Aishwarya says:
“To spend the rest of our lives together is the most romantic thing I could’ve experienced. He’s all rolled into one -- a fabulous actor, a great husband and an excellent friend. I love him. He is the best in everything he does or is.”
Abhishek says
“This one year of marriage with Ash has been beautiful!”
