Moral support needed, urges Younus Khan
LAHORE: Newly appointed Pakistan cricket captain Younus Khan said, team is going through a sensitive phase after recent drubbing by Sri Lanka and needs moral support from public and the media.
“Our team is not in right frame of mind after its recent defeat at the hands of Lanka and he does not want to make tall claims to lift his performance as he does not have a magic stick to change the fortunes overnight”, he told a press conference here on Wednesday at Gadaffi stadium.
“Surely we need back from public and media to better our performance and I look forward to their support “, he asserted. Younus said that it was the national team and every one had to back it so that it could emerge as a winning combination.
To a question, Younus said he did not make any demand to the PCB chairman Ijaz Butt when he offered him captaincy.
“The chairman offered me the captaincy and I accepted and this is the entire story, “Younus said. “I will meet the PCB chairman after one week to exchange views on the future planning of the national team,” he said.
To a question, Younus said like other captains he would like to have his own team and like-minded people in the team management.
He dispelled the impression that he was a short-tampered and was not an ideal choice for captaincy.
