PCB chief criticizes Senate Committee

LAHORE: Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ijaz Butt, has said that Senate’s Standing Committee on Sports has no authority to give dictations to the officials of cricket board.

In a letter written to the Senate Chairman Farooq H. Naek, Butt has severely criticized the approach of Senate Standing Committee on Sports. He said that PCB is an autonomous body and nobody can dictate the board’s officials.

“President of Pakistan is the Pattern-in-Chief of the PCB and being the Chairman, I am answerable to him only,” he added.

On the other hand, a member of the Senate Committee on Sport, Tahir Mashhadi, said that he would apprise the PCB chief of the powers Senate Committee is holding during the next meeting.
