LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) selectors Thursday recalled Suhail Abbas and Wasim Ahmed to a 26-man training cup ahead of next month’s Asia Cup.
Captain Pakistan Junior Team Haseem Khan has also been called to the senior team’s camp.
Asia Cup is due to start on May 8 in Malaysia for which training cup will commence on April 20 in Lahore.
Chief Selector Sardar Hassan told Geo News that penalty-corner specialist Suhail Abbas and former skipper Wasim Ahmed have been invited to the training camp after a gap of almost two years.
They last played for Pakistan in the World Cup 2006.
Besides, Rehan Butt and Goal-keeper Salman Akbar playing in foreign hockey leagues have also been also named among the probables.
All players who featured in the recently concluded Azlan Shah Cup have been called.
Hassan said that captain Zeshan Ashraf was likely to be replaced, adding that a final decision in this connection would be taken by the PHF President Qazim Zia.
