Pakistan’s devastating bowling limits SL to 138-6
LONDON: Pakistan’s devastating bowling limited the Sri Lankan batsmen to 138-6
in Twenty20 World Cup final being played here at Lord’s on Sunday.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan and hit 138 runs.

The most successful batsman from Sri Lankan side was team’s captain Sangakkara who hammered 64 runs from 52 bowls. While, Jayasuriya and Silva hit 17 and 14 respectively.

Today’s prime highlight was Abdur Razzaq’s bowling which sent three SL batsmen back to pavilion.

Abdur Razzaq and Shahid Afridi were the two players in Pakistani team who played Twenty20 ten years ago.

Dilshan, who was being deemed as the danger for Pakistan was out with no score and Umer Gul, Amir and Shahid Afridi posed great threat to Sri Lankan claim for the tournament title. All these players victimized one Sri Lankan batsman each.

Pakistan lift World T20 Cup, beat Sri Lanka
LONDON: Pakistan have become the Twenty20 champions defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the hard-fought final of the World Cup 2009 here at Lord’s on Sunday.

Chasing 139, Pakistan achieved the target with 8 balls to spare with Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik were at the crease.

Afridi made 55 from 40 balls with two sixes and two fours while Malik scored 24.

Karachi’s streets deserted as T20 final is underway
KARACHI: People in Karachi are glued to the TV and widescreens to see ball-to-ball match of Twenty 20 World Cup final being played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in London on Sunday.

Most of the Karachiites are staying in their houses watching the final match of T20 final in which Pakistan faces the invincible team of the tournament Sri Lanka.

Traffic is less than normal on the roads of the busiest city today where some cricket fans have set up huge screens to enjoy the match.
