PCB announces Rs.2.5 million reward for each player

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced Rs2.5 million for each player of national cricket team for wining T20 World Cup title.

In a reception hosted by Speaker National Assembly Dr.Fehmida Mirza for cricket team, Chairman PCB Ijaz Butt has announced the reward of Rs. 2.5 million for each team member.

Chairman PCB said the greetings that team had received after winning the T20 title is a great honour for players and management. He praised the team on their remarkable performance.

Team to clinch more victories in future: Intikhab

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket team Coach Intikhab Alam Thursday said team will continue its spell of victories in future as well.

Talking to media after luncheon hosted by National Assembly Speaker Dr Fahmida Mirza in honour of national cricket team, he said the way with which the national team was accorded appreciation, it is an honour.

Intikhab said the victory of Twenty20 World Cup title by the team is a great achievement and being rewarded and invited to the Parliament House is an honour.

Responding a question, he said Muhammed Aamir has potential as a bowler and he will be very useful for the team in future.

President hosts reception to victorious cricket team

ISLAMABAD: The victorious Pakistan cricket team in the World Twenty20 Cup has reached the President’s House to attend the reception being hosted by President Asif Ali Zardari.

The players who have reached the President House included captain Younis Khan, Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal, Saeed Ajmal, Abdul Razzaq, Shah Zaib Hasan, Shahid Khan Afridi, Fawad Alam, Shoaib Malik, Rao Iftikhar, Mohammad Aamir, Sohail Tanvir.

Besides, Javed Miandad, Intikhab Alam and other officials are also present there.

It may be recalled that the Prime Minister also hosted last night a dinner in the honour of the national cricket team at the Prime Minister House.

PTCL awards Rs 3 million to victorious team

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tele-Communication (PTCL) has awarded cash prizes of Rs 3 million to the victorious Pakistan team of the World Twenty20 Cup.

President and chief executive officer PTCL Waleed Irshad distributed cheques among the players.

Captain Younis Khan and allrounder Shahid Afridi were given Rs 0.5 million each while Rs 2 million were distributed among the rest of the team.

Waleed Irshad said on this occasion that the Pakistan cricket team has achieved a great honour for the nation by winning the World Cup and the team deserves encouragement.

Team brings joy to nation in time of trial: Zardari

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari held a ceremony in honour of the victorious national cricket team of the World Twenty20 Cup here at the President House on Thursday.

Paying rich tributes to the victorious team at the ceremony, the President said that he has celebrated the victory with the nation for the first time after the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and federal minister for sports Pir Aftab Jilani were also present at the reception, hosted by President Zardari for the victorious national team at the President House.

While congratulating the team on winning the World Cup, the President said that he also celebrated the victory with his children.

He said that the Pakistan nation has excelled in every department and there is no boundary of this achievement.

The President advised the team to follow the principles of unity, faith and discipline.

He gave away the prizes to the players.
