KARACHI: Lahore Region won the PCB Mobilink Hunt for Heroes Under-16 One-day tournament when as defeated Karachi Region by seven wickets in the final held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday.
Batting first after being invited to do so, Karachi Region were bowled out for 186 in 43 overs. Opener Faraz Ahmad scored 47 off 44 balls which included five boundaries. Saad Ali made 40 off 55 balls. He hit five cracking boundaries in his knock. Muhammad Wasi with 26 and Daniyal Mansoor with 24 were the other main contributors.
For Lahore, Usman Qadir bowled with fantastic line and length, finishing with seven for 29 in nine overs. His excellent figures were also embellished with a nice hat-trick when he took the wickets of opener Faraz Ahmad, Umar Arshad and Faisal Tahir on three consecutive deliveries. Qambar Ali Shah and Babar Azam shared one wicket each. In reply, Lahore achieved the target in the 46th over after losing three batsmen. Sami Aslam remained not out on 78. He hammered seven boundaries in his 118-ball innings.
Umar Asad made 51 off 100 balls with three fours. Salman Ali Agha with 29 and Hussain Talat with 21 not out were the other distinguished batters. For Karachi, Imran Dad, Masood Zahoor and Faisal Tahir grabbed one wicket each. Lahore’s Usman Qadir was adjudged Man of the Match.
