KARACHI: The National Women Football Championship this year will be a different event as there is the possibility that teams from Afghanistan, Nepal, Iran and Bangladesh will also feature in the spectacle which will be held at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad from July 28 to August 10.
An official of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), while pleading for anonymity, said that the PFF have contacted the top brass of the football governing bodies of Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan and Iran for featuring their teams in the 14-day spectacle and hopefully a breakthrough would be made in few days.
“Iran and Nepal have shown their willingness to send their women teams to Pakistan while Afghanistan is more than sure as last time they had featured in the event. But the stance of Bangladesh is not yet known,” the official said.
