High-level meeting for holding National Games
PESHAWAR: A high-level meeting, presided over by president Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Lt Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan, was held here for making arrangements to hold the National Games, beginning from November 14 in Peshawar.
The meeting reviewed in detail the venues of the National Games besides arrangements of boarding and lodging, transport and security for the players during the event.
The organizing committee in the meeting gave presentation regarding the arrangements of the National Games.
In his address at the meeting, president POA Syed Arif Hasan lauded the efforts of provincial minister for sports Aqil Shah for making the best arrangements to hold the 31st National Games.
Addressing at the meeting, sports minister Aqil Shah said that the NWFP government has assured to provide Rs60 million for these games.
He said that the chief minister NWFP, who is also the chief patron of the organizing committee, has ensured full cooperation and fool-proof security for making better arrangements of the National Games.
He said that FATA’s team has been included for the first time in the National Games.
The minister said that most of the contests during the National Games would be held in Peshawar. However, some games would be held in Mardan, Abbotabad whereas only two games would be held in Islamabad.
Aqil Shah said that all games held in SAIF Games at Dhaka would also be included in the 31st National Games.
