Team selection for NZ series amid Quaid trophy
LAHORE: The meeting of the selection committee over the selection of players for New Zealand tour will be held during second round of Quaid-e-Azam trophy, Geo news reported on Wednesday.
The One Day International (ODI) series between Pakistan and New Zealand cricket teams will be held from November 3 in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Chairman National Selection Committee (NSC) Iqbal Qasim told Geo news the members selection committee have been advised to closely monitor performances of every individual player during the Quaid-e-Azam trophy which will feature under-19 players including players from national cricket team.
He said the selection of national team will rest upon players’ show in domestic ODI tournament.
It is pertinent to mention that Quaid-e-Azam trophy will commence from October 10 while the second round of the tournament will be played from October 16 to 19.
According to sources, NSC has finalized a list comprising 25 initial players while speed star Shoaib Akhter and Misbah-ul-Haq are exceptions.
It is also likely that Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal and Muhammad Yousuf will be replaced by young players as per rotation policy.
