Dhoni non-committal on Ganguly''s tip

NAGPUR: Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday remained non-committal to former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly''s suggestion to bat up the order at No.3 if he wanted the team to beat the mighty Aussies.

Speaking to the media just ahead of the 2nd ODI in Nagpur, MSD said that he floats himself in the batting order depending on the situation in the match.

He said, "It is a very difficult choice to make because if you see our batting order, Viru and Sachin open the innings, with Gauti at No.3 and Yuvi at No.4.

The next slot available is No.5, and depending on the strength of individual players, who can have a bigger impact on the game, we select individuals to bat at that particular slot."

"I float at times and bat at different slots. But more often than not, we have a fixed batting line-up when it comes to these four guys playing in the game.

If the attack has more off-spinners, we may shift Yuvraj at No.5 and we have done that in the past. However, batting at No.3 and No.4 every time is difficult for me," added Dhoni.

This debate was sparked by Sourav Ganguly, who in an exclusive interview to TIMES NOW, had said that Dhoni should give himself at least 35 overs to bat, by coming up the order.

He added, "Dhoni should bat at no.3 so that he gets time to set his eye in.

His value in the team is much more and he should come to bat when there are at least 30-35 overs left in the game."
