Pakistan beat Italy in World Cup Qualifying match
ISLAMABAD: World No 7 Pakistan defeated World No 26 Italy 5-0 in their opening match of the first qualifying round for the Hockey World Cup 2010 on Saturday at the Metropole Hockey Club Lille, Italy.
According to the reports available here, Pakistan team gave a dominating display right from the beginning to beat their rivals.
Penalty Corner Specialist, Muhammad Sohail netted first goal for Pakistan through a penalty corner in the first half to lead his team 1-0.
In the second half, Sohail struck again by converting another penalty corner. While Muhammad Imran made the scoreline 3-0 by scoring third goal for Pakistan, also through a penalty corner.
Mounting pressure on Italy, Muhammad Zubair and Abdul Hafeen scored one goal apiece before the match was ended.
