The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to name a replacement for Younis Khan on the Test tour of New Zealand next week. Media reports have suggested the PCB has already selected Misbah-ul-Haq, who stand-in captain Mohammad Yousuf called for, but the board has denied any such decision.
Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, is away in London and will return to Pakistan on 21. "Once the chairman returns home we will discuss the matter with him before deciding on naming a replacement for Younis," Iqbal Qasim, the chief selector, was quoted as saying by Dawn.
Qasim also said that Yousuf had not approached the PCB about a possible replacement for Younis.
Younis walked away from the captaincy recently, wanting to take a rest and skip the New Zealand series after saying he had "lost command" over his team. In his place Yousuf was named as captain for the three-Test series, which begins November 24.
